Junior Criminal Defense Attorney

Responsibilities Represent clients in criminal defense matters and protect their legal rights.Manage cases with guidance and mentorship from experienced attorneys.Conduct legal research and develop case strategies based on facts, evidence, and applicable law.Communicate with clients about case developments, legal options, and next steps.Draft motions, briefs, pleadings, and other legal documents.Negotiate with prosecutors to pursue favorable outcomes for clients.Appear in court for hearings, conferences, motions, and other proceedings.Collaborate with attorneys and legal support staff to move cases forward.Gradually take greater responsibility for managing a caseload. Qualifications Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.Active Minnesota law license in good standing.0-3 years of criminal law experience preferred; internships, clerkships, and public defender experience are welcome.Strong interest in criminal defense, litigation, and courtroom advocacy.Excellent legal research, writing, communication, and negotiation skills.Confidence communicating with clients, opposing counsel, prosecutors, and the court.Strong judgment, organization, accountability, and time-management skills.Comfortable using technology in a modern legal practice.Coachable, eager to learn, and committed to providing excellent client service.Genuine passion for advocating for clients and protecting their rights.
