Junior Attorney – Criminal Defense

This is an excellent opportunity for a junior attorney or recent graduate who wants to build a career in criminal defense and gain hands-on experience working directly with clients and legal matters.

Responsibilities

• Represent clients in criminal defense matters, including court appearances, hearings, and other legal proceedings.
• Assist with case strategy, legal research, motions, briefs, and other court filings.
• Conduct client consultations and maintain clear, timely communication with clients.
• Review evidence, police reports, discovery, and other case materials.
• Prepare for hearings, negotiations, and other proceedings.
• Conduct legal research and analyze statutes, case law, and relevant legal authorities.
• Work closely with senior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to manage cases, deadlines, and documentation.
• Communicate with prosecutors, courts, opposing counsel, and other parties as needed.
• Participate in community outreach, legal education, and other firm initiatives.
• Provide compassionate, client-focused, and zealous representation.

Qualifications

• Recent law school graduates are encouraged to apply.
• 0-1 years of criminal defense or criminal law experience is preferred but not required.
• Active Texas State Bar license and in good standing required.
• Strong interest in criminal defense and litigation.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and priorities.
• Trial, moot court, law review, legal clinic, or internship experience is a plus.
• Spanish fluency strongly required.
• Must be comfortable working in person.
