Overview of Role
As a Junior Counsel, you will work closely with Norm's Head of Legal and Managing Partner of Norm Law, LLP. You will support the full legal function at Norm Ai and the legal and operational needs of Norm Law, covering corporate, commercial, employment, IP, and data security, as well as business and go-to-market operations. This role requires excellent judgment, exceptional organization, and the ability to move fluidly across legal disciplines and business problems.
Core Objectives & Responsibilities
Corporate, Equity & Governance: Support corporate and governance needs, including board and stockholder consents, resolutions, and entity matters. Administer equity and maintain the cap table. Keep corporate records and filings in order.
Commercial & Norm Law Go-To-Market: Draft and review commercial agreements, build templates and playbooks, support client intake, and operationalize a go-to-market motion.
Employment, IP & Data Security: Manage employment matters, employment templates, policies, and handbooks. Safeguard IP ownership, assignment, and protection. Ensure data privacy and security compliance.
Strategic Collaboration & Enablement: Coordinate with outside counsel, prepare materials, and escalate matters when necessary. Build the legal function's infrastructure and support the business.
Skills & Experience
JD and licensed in at least one state (NY preferred), with 2-3 years of experience at a top-tier law firm or in-house at a high-growth company.
A generalist with a strong foundation in corporate, commercial, employment, IP, and data privacy/security.
Exceptional judgment, discretion, and ownership; pragmatic and business-minded; highly organized and systems-oriented.
Success in this Role
Within 30 days: Complete onboarding and understand Norm Ai and Norm Law structures.
Within 60 days: Independently handle routine matters, support internal teams, and begin building templates and process improvements.
Within 90 days: Operate as a trusted generalist, own matters end-to-end, and drive infrastructure and workflow systematization.
Compensation and Benefits
$200,000 - $250,000 per year plus equity. Comprehensive benefits include a 401(k) plan with an employer match, top-tier insurance coverage, and relocation assistance for NYC candidates. Norm Ai is located in 1 WTC HQ, 4-5 days a week.
