About the role

The Junior Estimator supports the Senior Estimator and the Estimating Department by ensuring bids, proposals, and cost estimates are completed accurately, on time, and in an organized manner. This role requires a highly organized professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can handle a wide range of responsibilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, is required, along with the ability to learn construction management software. Teamwork and collaboration are essential.

This position is based in our Houston, Texas office at 931 Pheasant Valley Dr, Missouri City, TX 77489.

Responsibilities

  • Estimate Preparation: Assist in creating detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Document Review: Analyze blueprints, specifications, and bid documents to understand project scope and requirements.
  • Quantity Take-Offs: Perform manual and digital take-offs for assigned trades using estimating software (Procore, Bluebeam, and Excel).
  • Bid Support: Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes; level and compare bids for scope coverage and accuracy.
  • Bid Package Development: Help prepare bid packages, proposals, and cost reports.
  • Collaboration: Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and scope reviews; coordinate with project management during takeoff.

Requirements

  • 6 months or more of estimating experience in commercial construction.
  • Experience in project management or other construction roles is helpful but not required.
  • Basic understanding of construction methods, materials, and terminology.
  • Familiarity with hardscape and concrete is very helpful.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Exposure to estimating software and digital takeoff tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines with strong attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills along with organizational skills.

Pay

Base salary in the range of $60,000 to $83,000, depending on experience.
