Responsibilities
- Perform the installation of premise network cabling systems.
- Install, label and test premise cabling, connections, patch panels, equipment enclosures/cabinets, cable tray, Protective Distribution System (PDS) conduit, and associated hardware.
- Update cable run sheets and other documentation as required.
- Read and interpret system installation drawings and design packages and apply that knowledge to cabling installations.
- Install LC, MTRJ, SC and RJ45 connector termination and test fiber-optic and copper cabling systems.
- Label cables and associated hardware according to standards and cable run sheets.
- Install various types of cable tray, Protective Distribution Systems (PDS) and EMT conduit up to 4 inches.
- Able to fusion splice fiber optic cable.
Qualifications
- Eligibility to obtain a government security clearance.
- Ability to travel as needed to meet project requirements.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the installation of copper and fiber-optic cable plants is required.
- Must be highly proficient in the installation and test of premise cabling, connections, patch cords, patch panels, equipment enclosures/cabinets, cable tray, PDS conduit, and associated hardware.
- Possess a demonstrated ability in reading and interpreting system installation drawings and design packages and applying that knowledge to the cabling installation while promoting a safe work environment and implementing safe work practices.
- Must be proficient in the proper handling, installation, of LC, MTRJ, SC and RJ45 connector termination and testing of fiber-optic and copper cabling systems.
- Must be proficient in the installation of various types of cable tray, PDS, and EMT conduit up to 4 inches.
- Possess experience with access points, repeaters, data center, computer lab, Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP), direct access storage drive, mainframe, open systems and switches/routers.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
- Must have the following required certifications:
- Confined Space Certified for Outside Plant Installations
- Forklift Certification
- Aerial and Scissor Lifts
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BICSI Installer 1 (INST1), BICSI Installer 2, Copper (INSTC) and BICSI Installer 2, Optical Fiber (INSTF) certification.
