About the role

Spatial Front, Inc. (SFI) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Business Analyst to support a federal government customer in Arlington, Virginia.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with gathering, analyzing, organizing, and documenting business and system requirements.
  • Participate in meetings with customers, end users, developers, testers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Document meeting discussions, decisions, action items, risks, and follow-up activities.
  • Help translate business needs into clear functional requirements, user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria.
  • Help maintain and refine the product backlog.
  • Review requirements and project documentation for completeness, clarity, and consistency.
  • Identify gaps, questions, dependencies, and potential issues related to business requirements.
  • Maintain requirements traceability and supporting project documentation.
  • Participate in Agile activities, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint demonstrations, and retrospectives.
  • Aid project managers, product owners, and senior business analysts with sprint coordination and project tracking.
  • Prepare project status reports, presentations, meeting materials, and customer deliverables.
  • Monitor assigned activities and follow up with team members to support timely completion.
  • Track risks, issues, dependencies, decisions, and project milestones.
  • Organize and maintain project information in Confluence, SharePoint, or similar collaboration platforms.
  • Assist with reviewing completed system features against documented business and functional requirements.
  • Prepare test scenarios, test cases, test scripts, and expected results.
  • Support functional testing, system testing, regression testing, and user acceptance testing.
  • Document testing results, defects, questions, and requested changes.
  • Work with developers and testers to clarify requirements and help resolve identified issues.
  • Gather user feedback and communicate findings to the appropriate project team members.
  • Communicate professionally with government customers, end users, and project team members.
  • Support customer meetings, demonstrations, training sessions, and requirements workshops.
  • Prepare user guides, standard operating procedures, process documentation, and training materials.
  • Perform research and analysis to support business and project decisions.
  • Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and complete tasks accurately and on schedule.
  • Perform other business analysis and project support duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Public Administration, Communications, or a related field.
  • Zero to two years of relevant professional experience.
  • Relevant internships, academic projects, military experience, volunteer work, or other practical experience may be considered.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to document information clearly and accurately.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn business analysis, Agile practices, software development processes, and federal government operations.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Must be able and willing to work onsite in Arlington, Virginia, five days per week.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship or entry-level experience in business analysis, information technology, project coordination, software development, quality assurance, consulting, or customer support.
  • Familiarity with Agile or Scrum concepts.
  • Exposure to Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, SharePoint, ServiceNow, or similar tools.
  • Experience preparing user stories, process diagrams, requirements, test cases, reports, or project documentation.
  • Familiarity with software development life cycle concepts.
  • Previous experience supporting a government agency or government contractor.
  • Interest in pursuing certifications related to business analysis, Agile, Scrum, or project management.

Clearance and Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or otherwise meet the citizenship and eligibility requirements of the federal customer.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required U.S. government Public Trust clearance.
  • Must successfully complete fingerprinting, background investigation, badging, and system-access requirements.

Work Location Requirement

This is a fully onsite position located in Arlington, Virginia. The selected candidate must report to the assigned customer or SFI work location five days per week. Remote work, hybrid work, and telework are not available for this position. Candidates should currently live within a reasonable commuting distance of Arlington, Virginia, or be willing to relocate before their start date.

Compensation and Benefits

  • The anticipated salary range for this position is $50,000–$90,000 annually.
  • The final salary will be based on factors including education, relevant experience, technical skills, certifications, customer requirements, contract labor category, and overall qualifications.
