About the role
Acciona Construction USA, Corp., on behalf of its joint venture, SR400 Constructors, is currently hiring a Junior Attorney to assist in construction contracts and negotiations for the State Route 400 Express Lanes Project in Alpharetta, GA. This is a P3 project involving the design, build, finance, operation, maintenance, and tolling of new express lanes along a 16-mile section of SR 400.
Responsibilities
- Gain a deep understanding of the key project contracts (prime contracts, major subcontracts, and purchase orders).
- Avoid and comprehend the complex risk transfer structure on design/build projects.
- Draft, negotiate, and manage agreements related to the joint venture’s construction activities and claim management.
- Assist in reviewing subcontracts, identifying impact of proposed changes, and discerning issues and appropriate solutions to reach solutions beneficial to the Project while managing risk.
- Support the Project Counsel and project management team in creating awareness in all key personnel at the project so that issues requiring contractual response are identified and communicated in a timely manner.
- Maintain good practices with regards to internal communications (internal memos, emails between team members).
- Identify and prepare claims in close coordination with the project management team.
- Manage disputes and claims.
- Support the Project Counsel when addressing insurance claims and coverage issues related to the Project on an as needed basis.
- Review and provide written analysis and legal opinion regarding any adjustments made to contracts and ensure that the specifications comply with agreements made.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate required.
- 0 - 2 years of law firm or in-house experience preferred.
- Experience in construction, contracts, and negotiation is a plus.
- Admitted to the Bar (license to practice law) required, preferably in Georgia.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
- Team player with strong communication, reporting, analytical, negotiating, and organizational capabilities.
- Familiarity with contract documents and contract law.

- Salary range: $70,000 - $90,000 per year.
