We are looking for an experienced contracts specialist to join a university procurement function on a contract assignment. This role supports contract activity across a complex academic environment, partnering with internal stakeholders to review, draft, and negotiate supplier-facing agreements. The position is well suited for someone who can manage high-volume contract work independently while bringing strong judgment, precision, and a practical approach to commercial terms. This contract opportunity is expected to last at least 6 months and offers a hybrid arrangement with a preference for candidates who can be on site once per week. Responsibilities: • Review, draft, and revise a wide range of procurement and supplier agreements with careful attention to legal and operational risk. • Lead contract negotiations directly with vendors and other external parties to achieve terms aligned with institutional standards and business needs. • Partner with procurement team members and internal stakeholders across the university to support contract requests from intake through execution. • Provide high-level contract analysis and redlining on commercial provisions, including technology, software, and service-related terms. • Manage a steady workload of agreements independently while maintaining quality, responsiveness, and appropriate prioritization. • Contribute to team operations during a period of increased demand and staffing gaps by helping maintain continuity of contract support. • Assist with evolving workflows designed to centralize contract intake and improve how requests are routed to the team. • Use available technology and AI-enabled tools, where appropriate, to improve efficiency in contract review and drafting tasks. • Juris Doctor (JD) required. • At least 5-7 years of experience independently handling contract review, drafting, redlining, and negotiation. • Strong background working with commercial agreements in a procurement, supplier, or vendor contracting environment. • Demonstrated ability to negotiate directly with external parties and manage contracts with limited supervision. • Experience with IT, SaaS, software, or AI-related licensing agreements is highly desirable. • Familiarity with AI tools that support contract analysis or drafting is a plus. • Higher education experience is preferred but not required. • Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement with preference for candidates local to Cambridge, Massachusetts who can attend the office weekly.
