Junior Accountant, Start Up GL
Responsibilities
- Aids in setting up Community profiles in accounting systems.
- Maps and posts Community budgets and prior management beginning balances.
- Assists in preparing Balance Sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Prepares journal entries. Enters journal entries into the accounting system as needed.
- Reviews monthly reports of general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy, and under guidance corrects errors prior to close of accounting period.
- Conducts research on any outstanding or unexplained items and assists in identifying and explaining any variances on the Financial Statements. Reports discrepancies to designated Team member.
- Assists in preparing additional financial reports requested by Client to be included in the Financial Package or provided to the Community Association Manager and/or BOD.
- Uploads Financial Statement package into system once completed and approved by Senior Accountants.
- Assigns small portfolio between 3-8 sites.
- Prepares Excel budget worksheets and other reports as needed.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college or its equivalent and one year of experience in Accounting /bank reconciliations; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail oriented, strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Basic proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office, including but not limited to word processing, spreadsheet maintenance, navigating in databases, record keeping and researching the Internet.
- Ability to work with sensitive or confidential information.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently and be self-driven.
- Critical thinking, problem solving, judgment and decision making abilities.
Qualifications
- Skills: Relevant to the position requirements.
- Experience: One year of experience in Accounting /bank reconciliations; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills
- Windows proficiency.
- Microsoft Office proficiency (word processing, spreadsheet maintenance).
- Database navigation.
- Researching the Internet.
