Junior Accountant

Job Type Full-time Description The mission of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is to honor the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. We also honor our military and first responders who continue to make the supreme sacrifice of life and limb for our country. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation is committed to eradicating homelessness amongst our veterans. The Junior Accountant works closely with the Foundation’s Finance Department providing financial information by maintaining and reconciling accounts; preparing reports and additional support as needed. Duties And Responsibilities Responsible for maintaining financial recordsResponsible for providing financial status information by preparing special reportsConducts routine data entry for accounting recordsResponsible for completing special projects; correcting errors by posting adjusting journal entries; maintaining general ledger accounts by reconciling accounts receivable detail and accounts payable ledgers; keeping information confidentialMaintain accounting controls by following policies and procedures; comply with federal, state, and local financial legal requirementsPerforms other related duties as assigned Requirements Minimum 2-3 years of accounting experienceExperience with QuickBooks and/or Sage (preferred)Basic mathematical skillsExcellent communication & writing skillsDetail orientedAbility to work independently as well as collaboratively Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related softwarePre-employment screening, including a background check, is required Working conditions Special working conditions may include changes in days worked, shift hours, and/or working conditions (e.g., outdoors or other locations) when participating in and assisting with special events as needed. Salary Description $55,000 - $65,000 per year
