Junior Accountant

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the accounts receivable process, including issuing invoices and communicating with external warehouses, customers, and internal departments related to sales transactions.
  • Assist with the accounts payable process, including invoice approval, entry, payments, reconciliations, and setup of new vendors.
  • Review expense reports for compliance, accuracy, and proper expense disclosure and classification.
  • Assist with month-end bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports.
  • Prepare and post various journal entries.
  • Assist in processing balance sheets, income statements, and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly and yearly closings.
  • Assist in providing information requested by internal and external auditors.
  • Perform administrative and office-related duties to support business and team objectives.
  • Work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Finance, and Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1–3+ years of proven experience as a junior accountant.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Extremely organized with excellent computer proficiency (SAP Business One is a plus, MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), including accounting software.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member to carry out assignments within parameters of instructions, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, exceptional judgment, dependability, excellent teamwork skills, good time management, creativity, problem-solving ability, hardworking and persistent attitude, professional competence, and proactive approach.
  • Current and active driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business or a related field from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4–6+ years of increasingly responsible experience performing financial and professional administrative duties and customer service.
  • Experience with Sales and Customer Service in SAP Business One.

Working Conditions

  • Travel 10% of the time for meetings at other SSAB locations, trainings, seminars, and conferences as needed.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
