About the role

The Junior Accountant serves as an integral part of the (MALIN+GOETZ) finance team, responsible for Accounts Payable and Receivable, as well as assisting in the month end close and associated reporting. The role requires a dynamic, results-driven individual with exemplary attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and a professional communications style. Responsibilities

  • Manage Accounts Payable process: audit, match, code, invoice/expense entry, as well as performing weekly payment run.
  • Manage Accounts Receivable process: invoicing customers, applying payments, sending statements and creating credit memos.
  • Partner with Sales and Operations teams to identify, research, and resolve invoice/payment discrepancies.
  • Provide assistance to vendors, customers, and internal staff.
  • Aid in month end close activities including bank reconciliation entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and cash reporting.
  • Support other finance and accounting activities as needed.

Requirements

  • Education/Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting, or 1-2 years of experience in Accounting.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting (through prior roles, internships, or coursework).
  • Language Ability:
    • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Write simple correspondence. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees.
  • Mathematical Ability:
    • Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability:
    • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills:
    • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot table, and VLOOKUPS.
    • Google Suite
