Junior Accountant
About the role
Join a small, collaborative accounting team that supports the business by providing accurate financial data and identifying process-improvement opportunities. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the company’s financial health through the monthly accounting cycle. You’ll engage with internal and external partners, learn the DoubleDown business, and become proficient in balance-sheet reconciliations, month-end close, management reporting, and financial statements. You’ll also help establish best-practice policies, maintain internal controls, and assist with external audits.
Responsibilities
- Perform month-end closing activities: account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, journal entries, balance-sheet schedules, revenue processes, and general-ledger analysis in accordance with GAAP.
- Assist the accounts-payable function, including electronic payments, vendor-issue resolution, and purchase-order review.
- Support accounts-receivable and revenue functions: process cash receipts, generate reports, and calculate revenue.
- Handle tax payments and returns (sales tax, B&O tax, VAT tax) and process provisional tax.
- Recommend and implement workflow improvements within your areas of responsibility.
- Document accounting and reporting internal controls for SOX compliance.
- Assist with internal and external audits.
- Support year-end accounting activities: rolling schedules forward, 1099/1096 processing, and W-9 updates.
- Prioritize competing responsibilities to ensure timely deliverables.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects and perform other accounting functions as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- 1–2 years of professional accounting experience with exposure to journal-entry workflows, reconciliation reviews, and accrual methodologies.
- Experience with ERP accounting software (Intacct, NetSuite, SAP, etc.).
- Demonstrable proficiency with Excel.
- Strong cross-functional written and verbal communication skills.
- Desire and aptitude to engage beyond typical structured accounting processes.
- Excellent organization, attention to detail, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment based in Seattle, WA.
Skills
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- Working knowledge of GAAP principles and SOX compliance rules.
- Experience assisting with audit requests and supporting internal-control documentation.
- Ability to learn and utilize a variety of information systems and software.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
Pay
Starting hourly rate: $28 – $36, plus short-term incentives with the opportunity to grow up to $44 an hour. Final compensation will align with position leveling and range, considering the candidate’s specific skills, qualifications, and experience.
