Junior Accountant

Location: Newburgh, NY Industry: CPA Firm Position Type: Full-Time Compensation: $55,000–$65,000 Our CPA firm client is looking to add a Junior Accountant to their growing team. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their accounting career who wants to gain hands-on experience working with multiple clients and develop their skills within a public accounting environment. Responsibilities Assist with day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping activities for multiple clientsPrepare journal entries and account reconciliationsAssist with accounts payable and accounts receivableReconcile bank and credit card accountsAssist with month-end and year-end closePrepare financial statements and supporting schedulesAssist with tax preparation and other accounting projectsMaintain accurate and organized financial recordsResearch and resolve accounting discrepanciesCommunicate with clients to gather information and resolve questionsSupport senior accountants and CPAs with various client projectsAssist with special projects and other duties as needed Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred1–2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experienceStrong understanding of basic accounting principlesProficiency with Microsoft ExcelExperience with QuickBooks or other accounting software preferredStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesCPA firm or public accounting experience is a plusMotivated to learn and grow within a public accounting environment
