About the Role

This is a first-line managerial position overseeing a unit of court operations (e.g., 24-hour Justice of the Peace Courts, county-wide operations for CCP, criminal or civil divisions in Family Court, or a major functional unit of Superior Court). Responsibilities include implementing policies and procedures, representing the court in pilot programs as a subject-matter expert, and rolling out new programs driven by legislation. Positions typically report to an administrative superior.

Responsibilities

  • Assess case filings to determine placement in case tracks or recommend referrals to alternative tracks.
  • Interpret and apply court rules, laws, and procedural requirements for case events and caseflow management.
  • Monitor and coordinate case activity through multiple legal events and processes.
  • Track case events and status, anticipate problems or delays, and initiate corrective actions, including contacting participants to resolve issues inhibiting case flow.
  • Develop case management procedures for use by judges or teams.
  • Advise judicial officers on case events leading to final disposition.
  • Coordinate case activity with judicial officers, attorneys, law enforcement agencies, and litigants.
  • Resolve technical case processing issues through research and coordination with other agencies and courts.
  • Research case files, records, and other information sources to ensure accuracy, prepare court documents, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Establish and maintain contacts with the legal community, agencies, and courts to expedite case flow.
  • Enter case data into automated case management systems; prepare and maintain case files and records.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience managing cases through the legal process.
  • Three years of experience researching files, records, and other information sources to ensure accurate case data and resolve case flow issues.
  • Three years of experience in narrative report writing.
  • Six months of experience in staff supervision.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire.
