About the Department

The Judaic Studies department is part of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and employs the critical methodologies of university scholarship to examine all aspects of the history, religion, culture, and social and political formations of the Jewish people.

About the Role

Portland State University’s Harold Schnitzer Family Program in Judaic Studies invites applications for new Adjunct Instructors with expertise in the history and cultural study of Judaism and the Jewish people with demonstrated teaching experience to teach our lower and upper-level undergraduate courses.

Requirements

  • M.S. or M.A. in Holocaust Studies, Jewish studies, or closely related field
  • Previous teaching experience
  • Must be a resident of Oregon or SW Washington

Pay

Adjunct faculty members are paid per credit hour per the AFT Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Proposed start date: 09/16/2026. Open until filled; posting closes 04/30/2027. Background check required.
