About the role
The Harold Schnitzer Family Program in Judaic Studies at Portland State University invites applications for new Adjunct Instructors with expertise in the history and cultural study of Judaism and the Jewish people, and demonstrated teaching experience, to teach lower and upper-level undergraduate courses in the Judaic Studies department. The department employs critical methodologies of university scholarship to examine all aspects of the history, religion, culture, and social and political formations of the Jewish people.
Responsibilities
- Teach lower and upper-level undergraduate courses in Judaic Studies.
- Create an inclusive environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates differences.
- Function and communicate effectively within diverse cultural contexts.
- Adhere to PSU’s policies on Prohibited Discrimination & Harassment and Professional Standards of Conduct.
- Contribute to a culture of environmental stewardship and sustainability.
Requirements
- M.S. or M.A. in Holocaust Studies, Jewish studies, or a closely related field.
- Previous teaching experience.
- Must be a resident of Oregon or SW Washington.

- Experience working and collaborating in diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings.
- Willingness to adapt and improve in multicultural environments.
Pay
Adjunct faculty members are paid per credit hour according to the AFT Collective Bargaining Agreement. Details can be found at PSU Academic Unions.
