About the role
Estes Forwarding Worldwide (EFW) is a leading domestic and international freight forwarder. We provide customized logistics and warehousing solutions for clients across all industries via air, ground, and ocean freight. Based in Richmond, Virginia, we are a subsidiary of Estes Express Lines, offering a hybrid transportation network backed by our extensive line haul network.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Project Manager, IT with project scope, schedule, resources, quality, costs, and change management
- Develop project resource plans and status reports
- Support technical asset inventory management
- Work directly with customers, vendors, and implementation partners
- Manage IT projects and project segments by specified objectives within specified resources
- Manage all aspects of assigned projects, to include reporting on project progress-to-plan, status updates, and facilitating team meetings
- Review/gather functional and non-functional requirements, create communication and risk plans, update overall project plans through project lifecycles
- Ensure development of products and services to customer requirements
- Act as liaison and interface to different business units
- Prepare ongoing daily, weekly, and monthly project status reports and schedules
- Support asset inventory tracking, including software licenses, computers, printers, and other equipment
- Track project progress in Project Management software (Asana) including managing and monitoring project budgets and contracts
- Translate metrics into actionable, meaningful intelligence
- Support the evaluation, recommendation, and implementation of new technologies
- Manage communication related to development projects and tickets to end-users and set expectations
- Manage and/or perform use case testing
- Regular attendance is required
- Comply with company C-TPAT and TSA security procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Information Systems, Information Technology, Supply Chain Management, or Logistics preferred and 1-2 years of relevant experience
- Prior experience working in the transportation/freight movement industry desired
- Knowledge of standard project management methodology
- Ability to help manage project teams, risks, and issues
- Flexible, excellent attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure during periods of peak work volume
- Proficient in Access, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio
- Advanced skills in MS Excel, including formula and Pivot Table creation
- Ability to write queries and build reports using MS Access and Excel
- Proficient in MS Mail/Outlook/Exchange
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong time management, organization, communication, and presentation skills
- Consistently meet documented deadlines and objectives
- Able to multitask and prioritize work
- Project Management experience
- Ability to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures, and Code of Conduct
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently or with groups of people, such as other departments, and communicate known concepts
- Mentally and emotionally capable of handling a high-stress environment
- Responds well to questions
- Ability to read, interpret, and comply with written information and documents such as safety rules, operations/procedure manuals, and maintenance instructions with a high comprehension and concentration level to include the ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to read and interpret complex business and/or technical documents
- Ability to write comprehensive reports and detailed business correspondence
- Ability to present to a group of departments
- Ability to solve problems with a variety of concrete variables through semi-standardized solutions that require some ingenuity and analysis
- Ability to draw inferences and follow prescribed and detailed procedures to solve moderately complex problems
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and be subject to a criminal history background check
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
