About the role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Jr. Production Planner to support QuickCable's production planning and reporting functions by converting customer demand into executable work on the floor. This role is ideal for an early-career professional looking to build a strong foundation in production scheduling, ERP execution, and cross-functional manufacturing support. Working under the direction of the Senior Production Planner and Materials Manager, the Jr. Production Planner owns daily tasks in a high-mix, make-to-order environment and serves as a training role with a clear path for advancement.
Responsibilities
- Print and distribute travelers for departments on a daily basis.
- Issue shop orders for stock cables, the diecast department, and finished goods, balancing quantities against available purchased and manufactured inventory.
- Issue nonstock shop orders in Workwise, identify downstream demand, and raise additional shop orders required to fulfill customer orders.
- Honor customer-specific requirements, including accounts that require shipping readiness in advance of the stated due date.
- Prepare and distribute the Custom Cable (“CC”) schedule report communicating lead times on CC orders.
- Support responses to expedite requests on diecast parts and CC orders, and assist distribution expedites where manufactured part availability is the constraint.
- Review and act on VLM requests in the CC department, approving or denying part pulls against competing order commitments.
- Attend daily production meetings and track priorities, constraints, and changes.
- Partner with Purchasing on component availability and flag potential shortages.
- Provide back order status updates to Customer Service on request.
- Participate in cycle counts, inventory audits, and daily inventory transactions to support inventory accuracy.
- Investigate and resolve work order, material, and count discrepancies.
- Maintain work orders, routings, material status, and production changes in Workwise ERP.
- Correct shop order reporting errors when identified.
- Treat data accuracy as a planning duty, recognizing that MRP output is only as reliable as the data it runs on.
- Engage in cross-functional communication with Operations, Purchasing, Finance, Sales, and Customer Service to keep material and information moving.
