About the role
The Comptroller of Maryland has an exciting opportunity for a Print Shop Manager. The Print Shop Manager leads the agency’s in-house print operations and:
- manages internal print requests
- prepares files for print using professional design software
- produces high-quality printed materials
- assembles official ceremonial certificates on behalf of the Comptroller.
Responsibilities
The Print Shop Manager is responsible for:
- handling job intake, scheduling, or operating print/finishing equipment
- maintaining production logs, tracking job status, or managing job workflow in a print or production environment
- operating digital production printers, wide-format printers, and finishing equipment such as cutters, laminators, binders, and folders
- preparing print-ready files using Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
- drafting or contributing to internal newsletters, announcements, or informational materials
- balancing and delivering multiple high-priority print jobs simultaneously while maintaining quality and accuracy
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate
- Four years of administrative staff or professional work
Desired or Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Two years of experience in print production or print shop operations, including handling job intake, scheduling, or operating print/finishing equipment
- Experience operating digital production printers or related print equipment in a professional or institutional setting
- Experience maintaining production logs, tracking job status, or managing job workflow in a print or production environment
- Demonstrated experience preparing print-ready files using Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
- Strong writing and editing skills with experience drafting or contributing to internal newsletters, announcements, or informational materials
- Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven production environment
- High attention to detail with the ability to proofread written content, verify accuracy, and ensure polished presentation especially for official ceremonial certificates and agency materials
Qualifications
- Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience
- Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience
- Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required experience

Pay
The starting salary for this position is $66,314.00 per year, with the potential to grow to $103,309.00 per year over time.
Schedule
The Print Shop Manager works full-time and telework is eligible.
