Jr. Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Engineer

About the role

Located in Indian Head, MD, this full‑time entry‑level position is within ATR’s Engineering Services Division. The role is based at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Division, with occasional remote work.

Responsibilities

• Join ATR's Engineering Services Division, working as an Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) engineer at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Division, Indian Head, MD.
• Work on world‑class military programs that support the US Navy's Warfare technology as part of the Energetics Technology Division and the Ordnance Electronics Engineering Branch.
• Work on site with the ESD and Ordnance Electrical Safety Engineering team, with some off‑site work from home available on a weekly basis.
• Participate in ESD testing, evaluating, and analysis of US Navy and USMC Ordnance weapon systems, including hands‑on testing at ESD test facilities of existing and new system designs.
• Develop test plans, schedule tests, submit reports, and resolve technical ESD issues alongside the team.

Requirements

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience or familiarity with ordnance and/or energetics is preferred.
• Job experience with the Navy or DoD is a plus.

Skills

• Analytical skills with respect to mechanical drawings, schematics, and diagrams.
• Ability and interest to work with and gain experience testing ordnance and explosives.
• Experience with some level of design.
• Experience working in teams and multi‑tasking.
• Experience with analysis report writing and weekly report writing.
• Strong MS Office skills (MS Word, MS Project, MS PowerPoint, Adobe Pro).
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills and attention to detail.
• Some travel required.

Qualifications

• Must be a US citizen able to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance (or favorable adjudication of a national security background investigation).
• Current successful background investigation completion is a plus.

Pay

Salary range: $86,000 to $100,000 USD per year.
