About the role

The Jr. Digital Media Public Relations Specialist is a relationship-driven digital marketer who builds authority, visibility, and trust for brands across the internet through earned media, strategic publisher partnerships, and high-impact content ideation. This role sits at the center of modern PR, SEO, and AI Search visibility.

Responsibilities

  • Build & Manage Publisher Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with editors, journalists, and publishers across major digital publications. Pitch original, high-value story ideas that align with publisher editorial standards and audience needs. Earn consistent publication opportunities through reputation, credibility, and the quality of ideas—not transactional outreach.

  • Earn Consistent Publication Opportunities: Act as a trusted contributor whose work helps publishers grow traffic, readership, and authority. Drive earned media and AI Search visibility by securing earned placements, citations, brand mentions, and backlinks across authoritative third-party websites.

  • Content Strategy, Ideation & Tastemaking: Operate like an editor-in-chief: ideate story angles, headlines, themes, and narratives across industries. Identify emerging trends, content gaps, and timely opportunities publishers want to cover. Build content frameworks and creative direction for writers rather than executing all writing personally.

  • Brand & Reputation Building: Actively build and manage your professional digital footprint so publishers can research and validate your expertise. Maintain visibility across social media, blogging platforms, personal websites, and journalism tools (e.g., Muck Rack). Establish credibility through a history of high-quality publications and recognizable bylines.

  • Owned Media Network Leadership: Help manage and grow owned digital publications within our media network (e.g., technology, lifestyle, and niche verticals). Develop headline strategies and editorial direction that drive traffic, revenue, and authority for owned sites. Use owned media to strengthen personal and organizational credibility with third-party publishers.

  • Client Impact & Strategy: Translate media coverage into measurable client outcomes: visibility, authority, search trust, and lead generation. Align publisher placements with broader digital marketing and SEO strategies. Leverage your network to secure coverage across virtually any site on the web. Help pioneer and scale innovative services in AI SEO and modern digital PR.

Qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor's Degree: All majors welcome! GPA: 3.4 or above (Upcoming grads are encouraged to apply - we interview and hire up to a year in advance!)

  • Suggested Experience and Skills: Relationship building and professional networking, persuasive communication and pitching, brand positioning and reputation management, content strategy, ideation, and editorial direction, digital PR, earned media, and authority building, familiarity with SEO, backlinks, and search trust signals, deep curiosity about media trends, internet culture, and publishing ecosystems, ability to see the “big picture” while managing many moving parts, qualities and traits that include thinking like a digital marketer, comfortable being the face behind pitches, ideas, and media relationships, understanding that where something is published matters just as much as what is published, love influencing narratives, shaping content direction, and spotting what will resonate before it trends, thriving in a role where credibility, reputation, and long-term relationships are the currency, energized by the future of AI search, digital authority, and earned visibility.
