About the role
As a Jr. Buyer in the Stuart/Port St. Lucie team, you will assist in the procurement and sourcing of materials, supplies, and services at favorable negotiated terms. This role involves coordinating supplier production work orders, managing inventory levels, and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs).
Responsibilities
- Negotiate prices and commercial terms (cost, delivery, replenishment lead time, shipping, etc.).
- Support new product development from project definition to first production and field support.
- Ensure timely receipt of products or services and monitor inventory levels, including consigned inventory at outplant locations.
- Evaluate and qualify suppliers based on price, quality, on-time delivery, service support, availability, and reliability.
- Identify appropriate suppliers through catalogs, industry publications, directories, and trade journals.
- Conduct financial analyses as directed and maintain bills of material in the ERP system.
- Control cost of goods sold by negotiating purchase prices and identifying alternate vendors/materials.
- Expand ERP system usage for greater productivity, integration, and data management.
- Manage completeness and correctness of supplier work orders.
- Provide data for KPI standards (inventory, productivity, quality, cost, and pick time).
- Audit, investigate, and record material issues and inventory discrepancies.
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects.
- Initiate actions to prevent product, process, or quality system nonconformance.
- Identify and record problems related to product, process, or quality systems.
- Ensure compliance with the Dometic Code of Conduct.
- Complete other assigned duties as required.
Requirements
- Degree or certificate in business, supply chain management, engineering, project management, or a related discipline.
- 2 to 3 years of experience in sourcing/purchasing or a related field within a manufacturing environment (preferred).
- Basic understanding of supply-chain management.
- General knowledge of Intuitive ERP/MRP systems (Intuitive preferred) or similar systems.
- Proficient in MS Office 365, with intermediate to advanced skills in MS Excel.
- Reasonable math skills and ability to form basic formulas.
- Knowledge of manufacturing environments is a plus.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area using 5S principles.
- Comply with OSHA and MSDS standards.
