Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair electrical equipment and building electrical infrastructure.
- Perform electrical installations under the direction of the Electrical Master of Record.
- Replace electrical equipment and electrical system components.
- Perform diagnostics and repair for the HVAC shop, Mechanical/Plumbing shop, Electronic shop and Conveyance shop.
- Provide rotating 24/7 on-call support for electrical infrastructure and building equipment, including frequency drives, networked lighting systems and emergency power distribution.
- Use digital multimeters, power analyzers, circuit tracers and other test equipment.
- Ensure proper evaluation and repair of electrical distribution and lighting to provide a safe environment for staff and patients.
- Perform testing of emergency and life safety systems to be compliant with National Electrical Code and The Joint Commission\CMS.
- Record work time electronically using a maintenance software program to substantiate required compliance testing is completed.
- Follow safe electrical work practices, comply with Lock-Out Tag Out, Confined Space and Arc Flash programs.
- Complete Preventive Maintenance (PM) per policies and/or procedures.
- Take Minnesota state required training to maintain their electrical license.
- Be available to work overtime as required, which may be unscheduled.
- May be required to perform activities outside of their job classification.
Qualifications
- A two-year technical degree or an associate degree in electrical systems, construction or similar program focused on the maintenance, installation and operation of building electrical systems.
- Four years electrical apprenticeship training.
- Five years of experience with power distribution, lighting, motor and electrical controls.
- Electrical maintenance experience in a health care setting preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve electrical circuit problems independently on energized circuits.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, organize jobs and work collaboratively with other employees.
- Understanding of safe electrical work practices.
- Knowledge of reading and drawing electric schematics and having a working knowledge of the National Electric Code NFPA 70 and applicable safety standards.
- Good human relation skills.
- Ability to work independently on most assignments.
- The ability to use proper precautions to avoid potential exposure to chemical vapors, infectious agents, hazardous substances, rotating machinery, fall hazards, confined space and electrical shock hazards.
- Minnesota Class “A” Journeyworker Electricians license or an “A” Master Electrician license is required.
- A Minnesota driver's license is required.
