Journeyman Truck Technician / Mechanic

Pape’ Kenworth, a premier medium and heavy-duty truck and equipment dealer in the West, is seeking a Journeyman Truck Technician / Mechanic to join our team in Ferndale, WA. This role is ideal for someone who loves working on equipment and is looking for a career, not just another job. You will work on medium and heavy-duty class 7 & 8 trucks in the shop, ensuring repairs are done accurately and timely to support our customers and maximize their uptime.
As a trusted team member, you will diagnose and repair complex truck malfunctions, including cabs, steering systems, engines, transmissions, axles, differentials, brakes, clutches, electrical systems, and air systems. You will also perform maintenance and service to ensure reliability and extend vehicle life. This role requires technical expertise, critical thinking under pressure, sound judgment, and a strong attention to detail to meet high safety and quality standards.
You will work alongside trained Technicians in a well-resourced shop, serving as a leader and mentor for others.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and diagnose complex malfunctions or system failures in medium and heavy-duty class 7 & 8 trucks.
- Repair or rebuild components such as engines, transmissions, axles, differentials, brakes, clutches, electrical systems, air systems, cabs, and steering systems.
- Maintain and service trucks to ensure reliability, minimize downtime, and extend vehicle life.
- Perform repairs accurately and timely to support customer uptime and get sidelined trucks back in service quickly.
- Provide guidance and expertise to other team members.
- Use sound judgment and attention to detail to deliver high-quality, safe work.
Requirements
- 3 or more years of experience working on all makes and models of medium and heavy-duty class 7/8 trucks, including engine repair, electronic troubleshooting, HVAC systems, and chassis repair.
- Kenworth Essentials certifications preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge; Cummins and MX software experience preferred.
- Self-motivation and assertiveness.
- Ability to work under little or no supervision.
- Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
- Must provide own tools.
Pay
$35.35 - $39.90 per hour, depending on experience.
