About the Role

Amentum is looking for a Journeyman Software Developer to join our growing team in Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH. Remote/hybrid work may be allowed, with the possibility of transitioning to 100% on-site based on customer needs. You must currently live within 1 hour of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base or be willing to relocate to the area. You’ll gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment where we teach clean coding, bug detection, and complex problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design, development, and engineering of software solutions using SQL (stored queries, procedures, functions, views, and triggers), HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and Java for web development.
  • Support development efforts and communicate weekly status reports.
  • Provide demonstrations of code and contribute to other team efforts as required.
  • Assist with the development of production design of requirements and Software Design Documents (SDDs).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline and at least 2 years of software development experience, or a High School diploma/GED and at least 3 years of software development experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience with Java development and unit/integration testing of code.
  • Experience with build tools, such as Ant and Maven.
  • Experience with configuration management tools, such as SVN and Git.
  • Must live within one (1) hour of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base or be willing to relocate prior to the start date.
  • Must be able to physically exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally (lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or moving objects). This role is otherwise sedentary, involving sitting most of the time but may require brief periods of walking or standing.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization (U.S. citizenship is required).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including experience delivering presentations to customers.
  • Experience with API calls.
  • Mobile development experience.

Pay

$93,600 - $107,000 per year. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, and applicable laws.
