Journeyman Shop Technician

Responsibilities

• Repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment: servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and other mechanical agricultural equipment and implements.
• Operating vehicles, mechanized devices, or equipment: running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts and tractors.
• Making repairs and solving problems: analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
• Updating and using relevant knowledge: keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of equipment, implements, and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot.
• Arm-Hand Steadiness, Manual Dexterity, and Coordination.
• Strong attention to detail.

Reporting Relationships

• You report directly to the Service Manager of your branch location, as well as your Store Manager.
• You have a functional relationship with the Garton Tractor Service Director Drew Garton and the Board of Directors.

Principal & Essential Duties

• Repair machines and equipment using the needed tools.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine what kind of maintenance is needed.
• Determine the causes of operating errors and decide what to do about them.
• Conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
• Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
• Pick-up or order the needed parts from the Parts Department.
