Journeyman Sheet Metal Mechanic
About the role
Sheetmetal mechanics at Comfort Systems USA Shoffner are responsible for installing duct work, measuring, laying out fittings, and other related materials in both new and existing commercial construction projects. They work alongside helpers and apprentices under minimal direct supervision, focusing on tasks such as installing various HVAC and ventilation-related components.
Responsibilities
- Work safely at all times
- Understand blueprints and drawings
- Lay out and install commercial duct work in diverse environments
- Unload, move, and handle commercial-scale duct work
- Properly finish and seal duct work to meet testing standards
- Train apprentices and assist with project installations
- Work at heights using ladders, lifts, or roofs
- Install commercial HVAC equipment as needed
Requirements
- 4+ years of sheet metal installation experience
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work in extreme conditions including heat, cold, and adverse weather
- Physical capabilities to stand, walk, lift up to 60 lbs, and perform tasks in confined spaces
- Willingness to be cross-trained in different trades
- Good vision, hand-eye coordination, and motor control skills
Qualifications
To succeed, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to safety, reliability, teamwork, and the ability to adapt to various working conditions. Preference is given to military veterans.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $50,000 - $80,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
Candidates may work a variety of shifts, including day, evening, and weekend work, as needed for project requirements.
