About the role
This position is responsible for performing plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair activities for residential and commercial projects in accordance with company standards, safety requirements, and applicable codes. The Journeyman Plumber works independently on routine installation tasks while supporting field operations, quality workmanship, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems, piping, fixtures, and related equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, and work orders to complete installations accurately and efficiently.
- Measure, cut, assemble, and install plumbing components in accordance with project requirements and applicable codes.
- Troubleshoot plumbing issues and assist with identifying and resolving installation or operational concerns.
- Coordinate with field personnel, supervisors, vendors, and internal departments regarding job progress, material needs, and project updates.
- Maintain accurate work orders, installation documentation, and jobsite records.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, plumbing codes, and operational standards.
- Maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas in safe and organized condition.
- Support jobsite organization, material tracking, and operational efficiency throughout project execution.
- Provide professional customer interactions and maintain positive working relationships on jobsites.
- Assist with training and supporting entry-level technicians as assigned.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum 2–4 years of plumbing experience.
- Required to pass pre-employment screenings such as background and motor vehicle record checks.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without current or future need for employer sponsorship.
- Journeyman Plumber license required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous plumbing installation, construction, or field experience preferred.
- Completion of plumbing trade training or apprenticeship preferred.
- Relevant industry certifications or licenses preferred, and required where necessary to perform job duties.
Skills
- Working knowledge of plumbing systems, installation practices, tools, and construction methods.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical documents, and work instructions.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in fast-paced field environments.
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices, plumbing codes, and installation standards.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, plumbing equipment, and mobile devices.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a field team.
- English speaking, reading, and writing preferred, and required where necessary to perform job duties.
- Maintain professionalism and a positive, respectful demeanor with customers, coworkers, and business partners.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Ability to work overtime, modified schedules, or occasional weekends as business needs require.
- Stand, walk, climb ladders and stairs, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach, and lift throughout the workday.
- Sit for extended periods while driving to and between job sites.
- Work on active job sites, indoors and outdoors, including attics, crawlspaces, and confined or elevated spaces, with exposure to varying weather, construction noise, dust, and other job site conditions.
- Wear safety gear such as Personal Protective Equipment.
- Maintain dependable transportation and consistent, reliable attendance to meet customer service and operational needs.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions within established company policies and procedures.
- Communicate in person, by phone, and electronically, including on a tablet, smartphone, and other office technology.
- Travel as required to support project and operational needs.
- Perform all work on-site and in person; this is not a remote or hybrid position.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull at least 50 pounds.
