Responsibilities
- Demonstrates understanding of McCarthy Safety Guidelines and Procedures.
- Comprehensive knowledge of multiple Piping material applications: Steel/carbon pipe, Copper Pipe, PVC/PCV pipe, Poly Pipe, Stainless Steel pipe and Aluminum pipe, including piping layout.
- Receives direct supervision and performs technical responsibilities.
- Coincides own tasks with a specific range of responsibilities under established procedures.
- Contributes to a team under general supervision of an experienced professional or manager.
- Skilled specialist that demonstrates reliable judgment in resolving issues and making recommendations.
- Promotes a positive learning environment in mentoring and directing of apprentices.
- Performs testing, inspecting, and recording.
- Maintains all tools and equipment in serviceable condition.
- Uses materials and other resources conservatively to promote project success and profitability.
- Installs all systems and products per code, specifications, submittals, and contract documents.
- Provides applicable input promptly to maintain current “As-Built” record drawings.
Qualifications
- Licensed pipefitter preferred.
- Welding certifications preferred.
- Experience with copper, PVC and cast-iron installations and piping.
- Steamfitters license a plus but not required.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in plumbing and pipefitting.
- Experience with refrigerant piping and medical gas preferred.
- Med Gas Certification preferred but not required.
- Able to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
- Able to accurately layout building systems.
- Able to manage and train apprentice tradesmen.
- Able to create a safe working environment, and understand OSHA regulations.
- Able to take off and communicate tool and material requirements to the supervisor.
- Able to set up and perform plumbing tests.
- Able to identify potential issues during installation and elevate them to Foreman/General Foreman.
- Basic understanding of IPC and UPC building codes.
- Must have own hand tools.
- Must have reliable transportation to job-site.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work well with others.
- Good problem-solving skills.
