About the Role
GMS is seeking an experienced Project Pipe Fitter to support active mechanical projects across Maryland, Washington DC, and Northern Virginia. This role supports installation, modification, and repair work on commercial and government facilities. The position requires strong technical ability, strict adherence to safety standards, and the discipline to meet project schedules and quality expectations.
Responsibilities
- Installing, assembling, and maintaining piping systems for HVAC and mechanical applications
- Working with screw pipe, copper, welded piping, and specialty mechanical systems found in commercial buildings, federal environments, data centers, laboratories, military bases, and industrial facilities
- Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, schematics, and specifications
- Understanding HVAC systems such as chilled water, heating water, steam, condenser water, refrigerant piping, and gas piping
- Installing valves, pumps, strainers, hangers, supports, vibration isolation components, and other related equipment
- Performing pressure testing, flushing, and system commissioning support
- Coordinating field work with project managers, foremen, and other trades
Qualifications

Licensing and Certification
- MD/VA/DC Journeyman HVAC license
- CFC Universal
- OSHA-10 or 30 Safety training
Pay
$51.13/hr – affiliated with the Local 486
