Responsibilities
- Operate power plants, water impoundments, water conduits, and switching in their operating area.
- Write and perform switching orders, and issue tag-outs on equipment within his area of responsibility.
- Perform maintenance tasks such as light vehicle maintenance, using multimeter and clamp-on ammeter test equipment, and changing shear devices on wicket gates.
- Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, and replace non-generating low voltage equipment.
- Collect thermal data, perform exciter and collector ring brush maintenance on constant pressure rigging in generator equipment.
- Perform minor construction, repair, and maintenance of facilities used in the hydro department, including mixing and pouring of concrete.
- Operate designated mobile equipment.
Requirements
- Power plant operation and maintenance experience.
- Able to pass Operator's qualification examination within 6 months.
- Able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License within 6 months.
