As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will contribute to producing and delivering every form of salt that enhances everyday life by inspecting, maintaining, and repairing all mechanical equipment to improve plant performance.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair processor equipment, mill equipment, all mobile equipment, harvest and road salt equipment, and fire protection systems.
- Complete all tasks in a safe manner per SOPs, company policies, and regulations.
- Champion safety and create a safe environment for employees and visitors.
- Apply a broad spectrum of trades including pneumatics, welding and cutting, metal fabrication, carpentry, plumbing and pipefitting, and machine work (lathe, mill, etc.).
- Support all programs in the plant such as reliability, preventative maintenance, and housekeeping.
- Perform fabrication, welding, cutting, greasing, housekeeping, plant operation equipment operation, and various other shop or processing duties.
Requirements
- 4 years of maintenance service and/or schooling (can be a combination of successful completion of technical school or associate’s degree and/or related experience).
- Basic math, reading, and writing skills.
- Working knowledge of welding, cutting, and general mechanics.
- Safety-oriented with safe work habits.
- Punctual, reliable, and good attendance required.
- Good communication skills and a team-player mindset.
- Self-motivated and eager to learn new skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification to use elevated work platforms, forklifts, and cranes.
- Experience in heavy equipment.
Work Environment
- Must be able to operate various types of machinery.
- Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping, and climbing stairs.
- Must wear PPE including hard hat, gloves, hearing protection, safety shoes, protective eyewear, and long pants/sleeved shirt.
