Journeyman Lineman / Crew Foreman

Anchor Talent & Consulting · Selma, TX · 2 days ago
Management$55–$60/hrFull-time

About the role

We're building a brand-new electric distribution crew from the ground up, and we're looking for a Crew Foreman to help set the standard from day one. This is a rare opportunity to join at the start of something new: you won't be stepping into an established team with fixed routines, you'll be shaping how this crew operates, trains, and grows. This role leads a four-person crew (two Journeyman Linemen and two Utility Groundworkers) performing overhead electric distribution construction, maintenance, and storm restoration work for utility clients across South-Central Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily crew activities, including tailboards, job briefings, and hazard assessments before work begins
  • Direct and coordinate the construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of overhead electric distribution systems
  • Coordinate distribution switching to maintain reliability for utility customers
  • Operate and oversee the use of aerial equipment, pole-setting machinery, and other distribution construction equipment
  • Mentor and develop Journeyman Linemen and Groundworkers, supporting their growth through an apprenticeship pathway aligned with Department of Labor standards
  • Respond to storm restoration and mutual aid calls, including occasional travel to support utility partners during major outage events
  • Maintain compliance with client utility construction standards, safety requirements, and specifications
  • Communicate crew performance, operational needs, and development opportunities to leadership
  • Operate company-provided vehicles in line with applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Maintain professionalism and represent the company well in all interactions with utility clients and the public

Requirements

Department of Labor Journeyman Lineman certification in distribution, OR significant hands-on experience in electric distribution work

Experience leading or mentoring crew members in a field environment

Working knowledge of overhead distribution construction, switching procedures, and safety protocols

A valid Class A CDL

Ability to pass a DOT physical, drug screening, and background check

A high school diploma or equivalent

Strong communication skills and the ability to represent the company professionally with clients and the public

A genuine interest in mentoring others and building a strong safety culture, not just completing tasks

Qualifications

We know great candidates come from different paths. While this role typically calls for around seven years of journeyman-level experience, we're open to candidates with less tenure who bring strong technical competency, sound judgment, and a track record of picking things up quickly.

Skills

Ability to stand, reach, stoop, kneel, and squat for extended periods

Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or move up to 50 pounds

Ability to climb poles and work at heights as needed

Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, and wet or humid conditions

Availability for occasional storm restoration call-outs, which may fall outside standard hours

Successful completion of annual rescue/emergency response training

Benefits

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage (employer paid)
  • HSA with employer contribution
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Per diem for eligible travel

Pay

$55–$60 per hour, based on experience

Schedule

Generally follows a standard 40-hour work week, aligned with the operating hours of the utility client being served (commonly 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM, or four 10-hour days, depending on the client)
