Principal Duties
- Perform construction, maintenance, and repairs on the electrical overhead and underground distribution and transmission systems.
- Complete reports, documentation, and mapping information.
- Assist Foreman in training of Apprentice Lineman.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, including but not limited to, acting as Foreman in his/her absence as designated.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Valid Texas Class A CDL or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire date.
- Available to work on-call, emergency response, weekends, and evenings.
- Willingness to participate in working overtime and/or on evenings and weekends.
- Ability to progress through skill plan program, within specified period of time, as defined in department’s skill plan policy.
- Ability to perform essential duties in an environment that entails a variety of weather conditions and extreme temperatures; working at heights of up to 90’ above ground level; frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, climbing, and pushing/pulling; using hoist and dollies to lift and move heavy objects; and physically lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Possess basic level computer skills.
- Four (4) or more years of progressive electric utility line experience.
- Graduate of a Lineman School or equivalent experience.
- Journeyman Lineman – Department of Labor Journeyman certification or equivalent.
