About the Role

Perform construction and maintenance duties of overhead and underground facilities for electrical distribution and transmission for LCEC, which provides reliable, cost-competitive electricity to more than 260,000 members throughout a five-county service territory in Southwest Florida. LCEC employs approximately 485 skilled employees and is one of more than 900 electric distribution cooperatives located throughout the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Construction/maintenance of transmission/distribution facilities in cost effective manner.
  • Ensure facilities remain reliable and efficient.
  • Assist in emergency repair and power restoration after outages.
  • Respond reliably and timely to calls during regular work hours and off regular work hours.
  • Account for all construction materials (issues, returns, salvage, etc.) properly.
  • Perform duties safely and in accordance with LCEC accident prevention rules.
  • Comply with applicable codes and standards.
  • Must live within 45-minute commute from regular work site.
  • Support Storm Restoration efforts when needed. Work in emergency storm situations (i.e. hurricanes) and work long hours (>12 hours per day) for many continuous days/weeks as needed.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with employees/customers at all levels within LCEC. Ensure smooth operations, productive communications, and effective understanding during all interpersonal contacts. Provide current and accurate information to all requesters, courteously and in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. (Required)
  • Proof of completion of a certified line worker apprentice program and/or four (4) years of experience working as a journeyman line worker. (Required)
  • Commercial driver's license (CDL) Class A. (Required)
  • Able to meet physical demands of duties. (Required)
  • Familiarity with personal computer and Email. (Preferred)

Pay & Schedule

  • Hourly wages of up to $55.11 + up to $9/hr Shift Differential
  • Non-Summer: Thursday - Monday 8:00am - 4:30pm
  • Summer: Thursday - Monday 11:00am-7:30pm
