US Facilities, Inc., a consolidated facility management service company, is seeking an Electrician to work on one of our projects in Southeast Virginia.

About the role

The qualified applicant will be responsible for preventive maintenance, installation, and repair of electrical/mechanical and digital tunnel and bridge systems equipment. Minimum 2 years of field electrical experience performing preventive maintenance on commercial and industrial electrical components.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on a routine basis as outlined in responsibilities.
  • Minimum 2 years of field experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical components up to and including 480 VAC 3 phase systems.
  • Maintain electrical wiring systems and components in accordance with the provisions of the National Electrical Code and Industry Standards.
  • Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Diagnose cause of electrical problems or failures to identify equipment and/or systems repair.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of electrical theory and methods, materials, tools, equipment, and systems used in the electrical trade.
  • Inform personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for decision-making purposes.
  • Inspect electrical systems and components to evaluate condition, identify necessary repairs, and recommend preventive maintenance actions.
  • Operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely; assemble, install, maintain, and repair electrical apparatuses.
  • Make rough sketches; estimate cost, time, and materials of electrical work.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, isolate, and repair electrical malfunctions using various test instruments.
  • Maintain, test, and repair electrical equipment for safety and efficiency; plan the layout and wiring of new or existing installations.
  • Fabricate electrical parts; inspect completed work for conformance with specifications, requirements, and compliance with applicable safety codes and regulations.
  • Inspect related work performed by contractors; estimate cost, time, and materials for electrical projects; participate in the maintenance and operations of an electrical shop.
  • Clean, maintain, and service tools and equipment used in the performance of duties.
  • Utilize electrical schematics, diagrams, and specifications.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical load centers and distribution systems.
  • Analyze electrical plant operational characteristics and make recommendations to correct deficiencies; respond safely and appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Demonstrate experience in and/or knowledge of traffic monitoring and control systems.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Operate and perform work in a bucket truck.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by a supervisor and/or USF Senior Project Manager.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • Active Journeyman or Masters Electrician License from DPOR in the state of VA.
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Flexible schedule (relates to a 24/7/365 operating environment).
  • Valid driver’s license; DMV records check required.
  • Pre-employment drug screen and fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check required.

Work Conditions

  • 90-day probation period.
  • VDOT industry training.
  • Significant all-season/all-hour operating conditions.
  • May be subject to short or no-notice work assignments.
  • Work is primarily outside along interstate highways requiring necessary safety precautions involved in working with electricity in and alongside traffic.
  • Fast-paced, multi-tasking environment subject to short or no-notice work assignments and exposure to inclement weather.
  • Work environment is informal, both team and autonomy oriented, with routine tasks of variable pace and pressure.
  • Weekend, evening, and overtime work may be required.
  • Standing for prolonged periods, walking, lifting, carrying; frequently reaching, kneeling, climbing, bending, twisting, crouching, and balancing.
  • Monitored performance with routine evaluation.
  • This position is designated as essential; duties are required during emergency situations including inclement weather, disaster response, and emergency operations.

Pay

$25.00 - $35.00/hourly
