Responsibilities
- Read construction drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Fabricate and install raceways including cable tray and conduit.
- Install cables including MC-HL, MC, and EMT.
- Pull wires and cables safely without damage in raceways.
- Fabricate and install electrical panel stands and cable supports with unistrut and fasteners.
- Install systems for power distribution (24v to 480v), lighting systems, and grounding.
- Install PLC wiring and control wiring for various equipment.
- Install electrical equipment and gear.
- Install control apparatus such as relays, contacts, breakers, and switches.
- Terminate panels, J-Boxes, 3 phase motors, and instrumentation devices per drawings.
- Work with quality control to test continuity of circuits for electrical compatibility and safety using instruments like ohmmeter, megger, and multimeter.
- Provide support for electrical apprentices.
- Immediately report all incidents/accidents to supervisor.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent or ten (10) years Journeyman electrician experience.
- Minimum one (1) year related experience.
- Previous North Slope experience preferred.
- Alexa Journeyman's Fitness Card or appropriate reciprocal fitness card from another state.
- Understand basic electrical theory and NEC Code.
- Knowledge of power delivery systems.
- Must be able to travel throughout Alaska to fill in on various construction projects as needed.
- Preferred understanding of 1-line drawings, P&ID's, and install systems to drawing specification.
- Experience installing 480V gear and transformers.
- Familiarity with heat trace and heat trace components.
- Experience around temporary power setups/wiring temporary generators to temporary power distribution systems.
- Moderate experience with medium voltage terminating.
- Experience operating in classified areas.
- Experience pouring classified TMC connections.
- NFPA 70E trained.
- Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
- Frequent exposure to wet or humid conditions, work near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, extreme cold, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock.
- Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of radiation and vibration.
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear.
- Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Physical demands include lifting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, sitting, and reaching.
