Job Summary
The Electrical Journeyman is a skilled professional responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in commercial, industrial, and residential settings. This role requires a thorough understanding of electrical codes, safety regulations, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The Electrical Journeyman will interpret blueprints, troubleshoot electrical issues, and ensure all work is completed to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Ensure that all installations are in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local electrical codes.
- Measure, cut, bend, thread, and install conduit and electrical conductors.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Diagnose and repair malfunctioning electrical systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure code compliance.
- Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
- Inspect and test electrical systems to ensure proper functioning.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices.
- Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Identify and report potential electrical hazards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to determine the layouts of electrical systems.
- Work effectively with other journeymen, apprentices, and various trades.
- Provide guidance and training to apprentices and junior electricians, ensuring their adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Estimate material requirements and order necessary supplies.
- Manage and organize tools and equipment on job sites.
- Complete all necessary paperwork, including work orders, inspection reports, and time sheets, accurately and in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Education & Certification:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- A valid Journeyman Electrician license in GA.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.
- Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a licensed Journeyman Electrician.
- Proven experience in commercial, industrial, or residential electrical work (specify relevant experience).
- Skills:
- A thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local electrical codes.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for electrical systems.
- Ability to use a variety of electrical tools and testing equipment safely and effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity to handle and work with small components.
- Good vision, including color vision, and hearing.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments (e.g., confined spaces, heights, noisy areas).
Work Environment
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, at various job sites, which may include construction sites, industrial facilities, and commercial buildings.
- The environment may involve exposure to loud noise, dust, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
- Safety precautions and personal protective equipment are mandatory.

$55 per hour
