Job Summary

The Electrical Journeyman is a skilled professional responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in commercial, industrial, and residential settings. This role requires a thorough understanding of electrical codes, safety regulations, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The Electrical Journeyman will interpret blueprints, troubleshoot electrical issues, and ensure all work is completed to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation:
    • Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
    • Ensure that all installations are in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local electrical codes.
    • Measure, cut, bend, thread, and install conduit and electrical conductors.
    • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  • Troubleshooting & Repair:
    • Diagnose and repair malfunctioning electrical systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools.
    • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure code compliance.
  • Maintenance:
    • Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
    • Inspect and test electrical systems to ensure proper functioning.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices.
    • Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
    • Identify and report potential electrical hazards.
  • Blueprint Interpretation:
    • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to determine the layouts of electrical systems.
  • Teamwork & Supervision:
    • Work effectively with other journeymen, apprentices, and various trades.
    • Provide guidance and training to apprentices and junior electricians, ensuring their adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Material Management:
    • Estimate material requirements and order necessary supplies.
    • Manage and organize tools and equipment on job sites.
  • Documentation:
    • Complete all necessary paperwork, including work orders, inspection reports, and time sheets, accurately and in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Education & Certification:
    • A high school diploma or equivalent.
    • Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program.
    • A valid Journeyman Electrician license in State(s) where work is performed.
    • OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Licensed Journeyman Electrician in the State of WY.
    • Proven experience in commercial, industrial, or residential electrical work.
  • Skills:
    • A thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local electrical codes.
    • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
    • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for electrical systems.
    • Ability to use a variety of electrical tools and testing equipment safely and effectively.
    • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity to handle and work with small components.
  • Good vision, including color vision, and hearing.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments (e.g., confined spaces, heights, noisy areas).

Work Environment

  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, at various job sites, which may include construction sites, industrial facilities, and commercial buildings.
  • The environment may involve exposure to loud noise, dust, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
  • Safety precautions and personal protective equipment are mandatory.

Pay Range

$55 per hour DOE
