Journeyman Electrician
Overview
Herzog Railroad Services Inc. is currently seeking a Journeyman Electrician in St. Joseph, MO at our state-of-the-art Rail Car Facility.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Installing and repairing electrical systems associated with, hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic components as needed.
- Diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 4 years of experience in commercial/industrial electrical.
- Experience with some low voltage and control wiring preferred, some training can be provided.
- Ability to follow electrical code manuals to install and repair electrical systems.
- Understand schematic diagrams, blueprints and other specifications required by our client.
- Experience working with hand tools, power tool and electronic test equipment.
- Strong working knowledge of job site safety as well as ability to complete a company specific safety orientation.
- Able to travel and work some weekends when required.
- Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds overhead; carry weight up to 75 pounds up to 10 feet.
- Able to push/pull with forces up to 50 pounds.
- Able to use hands to perform activities involving grasping, turning, holding with forces up to 50 pounds.
- Able to ascend and descend steps with a height of 28 inches carrying up to 50 pounds.
- Able to ascend and descend a 7-rung ladder while carrying up to 25 pounds.
- Able to bend, crouch, stand and sit for extended time.
- Able to walk and work on uneven surfaces over sometimes great distances while maintaining balance.
- Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
- Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
Pre-Employment Requirements
- Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
- Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
- Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
