Journeyman Electrician
About the role
An Experienced Electrician is needed to handle various tasks related to setting up and maintaining electrical infrastructure. This includes installing electrical wiring in buildings and poles, troubleshooting malfunctions and blackouts, and repairing appliances.
The position involves working in environments with significant electrical risks, requiring individuals to prioritize safety at all times. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience with different types of electrical devices and systems.
The primary goal is to ensure that electrical connections are reliable and safe, thereby reducing the likelihood of accidents and enhancing the efficiency of electricity usage across all facilities.
Responsibilities
- Executing plans of electrical wiring for well-functioning lighting, intercom and other electrical systems
- Installing electrical apparatus, fixtures and equipment for alarm and other systems
- Installing safety and distribution components (e.g. switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels etc.)
- Connecting wiring in electrical circuits and networks ensuring compatibility of components
- Preparing and assembling conduits and connecting wiring through them
- Preventing breakdown of systems by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits etc.
- Performing effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged units
Requirements
- Proven experience as an electrician
- Experience in industrial and/or commercial electrical systems
- Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter etc.) and electrical drawings and blueprints
- Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Excellent physical condition and flexibility to work long shifts and overnight
- Diploma in relevant vocational training or successfully completed apprenticeship as an electrician
- Valid license to practice profession
Qualifications

- Proven track record for accomplishing construction work activities
- Working knowledge of construction phases

- Advanced knowledge of general construction, especially electrical/mechanical systems
