Journeyman Diesel Technician
The Opportunity
Journeyman Diesel Technician will be responsible for repairing and maintaining diesel engine industrial trucks according to dealership and factory specifications.
Responsibilities
- Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards including engine overhaul, fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions, colling systems, chassis, brakes, engine tune-up and preventative maintenance
- Analyzes customers’ truck performance complaints, diagnoses cause of any malfunctions and performs repair
- Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts
- Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended
- Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order
- Road tests vehicles when required
- Becomes familiar with and complies with the company’s Health & Safety Manual
- Keeps shop area neat and clean after each repair
- Returns all common tools that were used in the repair to their designated storage place
Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience as a Class 8 technician, preferable in a dealership or related truck facility
- Strong engine repair and/or diagnostics experience is preferred
- Valid Driver’s License, CDL is a plus
- A/C, Brake and DOT Annual Inspector Certifications required
- Basic computer skills and experience
What We Look For
Your responsibilities include performing work as outlined on repair orders, analyzing customer complaints, communicating with parts departments, examining vehicles, documenting repairs, road testing, following safety manuals, keeping areas clean, returning tools, understanding and complying with regulations, and more.
We look for candidates with 5+ years of experience as a Class 8 technician, preferably in a dealership or related truck facility, strong engine repair and/or diagnostics experience, a valid driver's license, CDL, A/C, brake and DOT annual inspector certifications, basic computer skills, and the ability to lift 50 pounds, walk long periods, and access and egress trucks and equipment.
Pay
The starting pay rate is $48.00 per hour or higher, depending on experience. Additional premium pay opportunities are available for eligible employees.
Schedule
The work schedule is Tuesday- Saturday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
