Job Description

UPS is currently seeking a reliable Journeyman Automotive Technician - CDL REQUIRED to join their outstanding fleet maintenance team. Automotive Technicians maintain a diverse range of equipment including delivery vehicles, heavy duty on road tractors and trailers from various manufacturers. Powered vehicle propulsion includes diesel, gasoline and alternative technology power plants (including compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas, propane, hybrid and electrical in some locations).

Responsibilities And Duties

  • Mets D.O.T requirements and CDL qualifications required by job assignment
  • Bends, stoops, squats, kneels, crouches, crawls, climbs ladders and stairs, stands, walks, and turns/pivots frequently throughout duration of workday
  • Sits infrequently, as required, throughout duration of workday
  • Exercises simple hand grasping, power hand grasping, fine hand manipulation, and reaching from foot level to above shoulder level as necessary to complete assigned tasks
  • Operates standard and manual transmission
  • Operates power and pneumatic tools
  • Mets all requirements to be Power Industrial Truc - Operations (PITO) certified

Requirements

  • Must have an active driver’s license issued by the state Class A/B or A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - REQUIRED
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Must be willing to work Monday to Friday, 4:00 p.m. - 12:30 a.m.
  • Must possess the required hand tools required to perform the applicable job assignment.

Knowledge And Skills

  • Current documented Journeyman Mechanic experience - at least 7 years of experience in the automotive or diesel field
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment, scan tools and personal computer
  • Hands-on experience in dealership, mobile repair, or fleet environments - HIGHLY PREFERRED
  • Formal technical education - Preferred

Benefits

The starting pay for this position is $37.12 per hour with a one-year progression to TOP pay $46.40. For union-represented postings, wage rates and ranges and benefit offerings are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions.
