Journeyman
About the role
The Journeyman plays a critical role in the installation, maintenance, and commissioning of electrical systems on utility-scale solar EPC projects. This position requires technical expertise, adherence to safety and compliance standards, and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams to deliver high-quality renewable energy solutions.
Responsibilities
- Install, test, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems and components for solar and renewable energy projects in compliance with NEC, project specifications, and local/state codes.
- Perform electrical terminations, grounding, commissioning support, and inspections for PV arrays, inverters, switchgear, and related balance-of-system equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and one-line diagrams to complete installations and resolve issues efficiently.
- Lead and support Apprentice Electricians and laborers by assigning tasks, reviewing work quality, and promoting safe work practices on job sites.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure compliance with all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and jobsite standards.
Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA standards, and electrical safety practices, with the ability to lead by example on job sites.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and one-line diagrams, as well as performing conduit bending, wire pulling, grounding, and electrical terminations.
- Skilled in troubleshooting electrical systems and using electrical testing equipment such as multimeters and megohmmeters.
- Valid Oklahoma Journeyman Electrician License required, with at least 4 years of electrical experience; solar or renewable energy experience and apprentice mentoring experience preferred.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, travel extensively (up to 100%), lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, navigate active job sites, and maintain a valid driver’s license.
