About The Role
Indoor Elements Mechanical is seeking skilled Refrigeration Mechanics to join their team in Grande Prairie. They are looking for both Journeypersons and Apprentices who are experts in cooling technology and committed to maintaining comfortable environments for their clients. In this role, you will work on a diverse range of equipment, from residential air conditioning units to complex commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems. They pride themselves on technical excellence and are looking for team members who enjoy the challenge of high-level diagnostics and precision installations.
Key Responsibilities
- Service & Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and inspections on air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical and electrical failures in cooling systems and recommend efficient repair solutions.
- Installation: Install and commission new AC units, walk-in coolers, freezers, and rooftop units (RTUs).
- System Charging: Handle, recover, and charge refrigerants in accordance with environmental regulations and provincial safety standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with their sheet metal and electrical teams to ensure seamless system integration.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe work site and ensure all installations meet the B52 Mechanical Refrigeration Code.
Qualifications & Skills
- Certification: Valid Alberta Journeyman Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Certificate or current registration as an Apprentice.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of the refrigeration cycle, including compressors, evaporators, and condensers.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent ability to troubleshoot control circuits and mechanical components.
- Physical Capability: Ability to work at heights (rooftops), maneuver in tight spaces, and lift heavy equipment.
- EPA/CFC Certification: Knowledge of proper refrigerant handling and environmental protocols.
Requirements
A valid driver's license and a clean abstract are required for service calls.
