About the event

Since 1994, the Journées de Fiabilité des Matériaux et des Structures (JFMS) have been a forum for exchanging ideas on the latest advances in reliability and probabilistic approaches for the design, assessment and maintenance of structures, civil works and industrial systems. The concepts of reliability, safety, robustness and resilience rely on managing uncertainties through appropriate modelling of data, the system and its environment.

JFMS 2023 will focus primarily on the responses provided by reliability approaches towards a sustainable, intelligent and reliable built environment in the face of climate change challenges and local specificities (coastal, mountain, etc.). Reliability approaches provide relevant responses to this societal challenge by assessing the risk of failure of dwellings, infrastructures and systems, integrating multiple sources of uncertainty affecting their resistance (degradation) and their loadings (extreme or more frequent loads); using data (from monitoring, non-destructive testing, inspections, weather stations, etc.) that will ultimately modify traditional design and management methods; and formulating reliable solutions for asset management and climate change adaptation in an uncertain context.

Topics

Presentations will be organised in the following thematic sessions. All contributions relating to the reliability of materials and structures are welcome. Round tables will also be organised around cross-cutting themes and major challenges for the reliability approach.

• Theme 3: Analysis and kinetics of degradation of materials, structures and works
• Theme 4: Asset management, life-cycle modelling and monitoring
• Theme 5: Uncertainty propagation and reliability analysis
• Theme 6: System reliability and optimisation under uncertainty applied to structures and works
