Journalism Instructor Pool-Part-Time

Responsibilities

• Teach the following courses, with the potential for continuing appointments in these and/or other courses based on need.
• JOUR 210 – Multimedia Journalism – Spring 2026 – in-person or online
• Students learn basic photography, audio and video production skills, and produce multimedia projects following the tenets and ethical practices of journalism.
• Use multiple podcast studios, a multimedia/video studio, and industry-level photo/audio/video equipment for students to use in their reporting.
• Design your own syllabi and train students in use of necessary technology.
• Teach courses with both lecture and lab hours.
• The journalism/radio department can offer support in terms of curriculum development and tech support.
• Instructors will get access to the Adobe Creative Suite and Fullerton College library resources, as well as the option for paid office hours.
• If teaching at least 6 units per semester (approximately two classes), access to health insurance under the current adjunct faculty bargaining contract.

Requirements

• Evaluations of foreign degrees and/or course work are required.
• The award of all degrees must be verifiable on a legible transcript.
• All degrees and course work used to satisfy the required minimum qualifications must be submitted and from accredited postsecondary institutions.

Qualifications

• Master’s in journalism or communication with a specialization in journalism OR Bachelor’s in either of the above and Master’s in English, history, communication, literature, composition, comparative literature, any social science, business, business administration, marketing, graphics or photography.
• Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area.
• The equivalent.

Benefits

Health insurance under the current adjunct faculty bargaining contract for those who teach at least 6 units per semester (approximately two classes).

Pay

Salary Range: $1572.67 - $1725.85 per lecture unit rate, $1572.67 - $1725.85 per lab parity unit rate, $1258.16 - $1380.60 per lab unit rate

Schedule

Full-time, part-time, and temporary faculty assignments on an as-needed basis.
