Journalism/Communications Internship - Fall '26
Hannah News Service-Midwest is offering a unique internship opportunity in journalism and communications. This internship is flexible, requiring as few as 10 hours per week, and provides lasting experience that can serve as a foot-in-the-door to a media career.
About the role
Interns will learn about the fast-paced world of government and policy journalism and communications. They will interview and connect with influencers and policymakers in Indiana state government, working with a team of experienced journalists to contribute to Hannah News Service’s four Indiana Insight newsletters:
- Indiana Legislative Insight
- Indiana Education Insight
- Indiana Gaming Insight
- Indiana Transportation Insight
Work hours are flexible, but applicants must submit their availability and total desired hours with their résumé.
Responsibilities
- Write articles and newsletter content
- Research topics for newsletter content
- Assist with interviews and covering events
- Take notes at various legislative meetings
- Collaborate with the Hannah News team on story ideas
Qualifications
The following qualifications are preferred but not required:
- Enrollment in a journalism or communications degree program
- Work experience in a student newsroom, professional newsroom, or another media job
Pay
$15 per hour; up to 20 hours per week.
