About the role
The John Otto Haas Molecular Ecologist will conduct research at Morris Arboretum & Gardens focusing on integrating fieldwork and herbarium collections with resources from the Plant Science Laboratory using molecular tools.
Responsibilities
- Investigate evolutionary patterns, spatial dynamics, and community-scale processes using molecular techniques.
- Disseminate research findings through publications and presentations.
- Provide expertise and support in bioinformatics and analytical computing, including collaborations with departmental colleagues.
- Pursue independent funding through grant proposals and strategic partnerships.
- Engage with diverse audiences to educate students and the public through teaching courses at the University of Pennsylvania, Morris Arboretum, and mentoring students, apprentices, interns, and volunteers.
- Collaborate with professional colleagues and members of the public, working closely with staff in the Plant Science Department and other departments at Morris Arboretum.
